Watch your run come to life with ShoosOn
ShoosOn now replays every run on its route map. Watch the route unfold at the rhythm of your run, then switch between heart rate and pace colouring.
A route map is useful. A line on a map tells you where you went.
But a run is not really a line. It has a beginning where you settle in, a section where the rhythm clicks, a corner where you slow down, and sometimes a final push home. ShoosOn can now show that story as it happened.
Every completed run with route data can now animate on the map. The line draws forward and a small dot travels with it, bringing the shape and rhythm of the run back to life.
Your route, at the pace you ran it
The replay does not move at a fixed drawing speed. It follows the timing recorded during your activity, so a quicker section moves on more quickly and an easier one takes a little longer. Long pauses are kept from turning the replay into a frozen map, but the overall flow still belongs to the run.
That makes a familiar loop feel different. You can see where the run found its rhythm, where it changed, and how the route unfolded from start to finish.
For this post, we used a simulated demonstration activity on a plotted Isle of Dogs loop in London. The screen recording is a real ShoosOn app screen; its timing, pace and heart-rate data are synthetic and clearly labelled as such. No runner’s private route or health data is used in these examples.
Choose the story you want to see
The moving dot changes colour as it travels, from cooler colours through to warmer ones. You can choose what those colours represent.
- HR shows how your heart rate changed along the route. It is a useful way to look at changing effort: where did the run feel more demanding, even if the pace did not change much?
- Pace shows where you were moving more slowly or quickly. It is useful for spotting a faster stretch, a steady middle, or the point where the run eased off.
They are deliberately separate views. A quicker pace does not always mean a higher heart rate, and a higher heart rate does not always mean a quicker pace. Switching between them gives a richer picture without pretending that one number explains every run.
Your preferred route colour can be set in Settings, and the activity detail lets you switch view whenever you are looking back at a run. The replay can also be started again with the replay control when you want another look.
An idea from a beta runner
This feature began with a simple suggestion from one of our beta runners: a route should feel more alive when you look back at it.
That resonated because it is exactly the kind of detail that is easy to overlook when building software and obvious once a runner points it out. A static map had the facts. The replay adds a sense of the run itself.
Listening like this is not a ceremonial part of beta. It is how ShoosOn develops. Runners tell us where a workflow creates friction, where an idea feels motivating, and where the app is missing something small but meaningful. We weigh that feedback carefully, build what serves runners well, and keep improving.
Read how ShoosOn is built with runners, not just for them.
More than a pretty line
The replay is designed to be enjoyable first, but it also belongs alongside the rest of your route history. ShoosOn can already help you recognise repeated routes, compare the route through pace and heart-rate heatmaps, and use the details of each run to support the bigger training picture.
The map remains static when you share it or view it full-screen, so you can still inspect the route without movement. And if your phone has Reduce Motion enabled, ShoosOn respects that preference by showing the finished route rather than autoplaying the replay.
This is a small feature with a very human purpose: to make it nicer to look back at the effort you made.
ShoosOn is built and hosted in Europe, too. Read why that matters to us.
See your next run differently
The next time you finish a run, open it in ShoosOn and watch it unfold. Try HR, try Pace, and see which version tells the story you recognise.
