Set a Running Goal by Date, Distance, and Pace With ShoosOn
ShoosOn now lets runners set a target date, race distance, and goal pace, then builds an adaptive training plan that adjusts week by week.
Every runner eventually reaches the same question: what should I aim for next?
For some people, that means finishing a first 5K. For others, it means building toward a 10K, half marathon, or marathon. And for many runners, it means something more specific: running a chosen distance at a faster pace by a target date.
That is exactly what ShoosOn now supports.
A smarter way to train for a running goal
Starting today, ShoosOn’s adaptive coach can build around three parts of a real running goal:
- Target date
- Target distance
- Target pace
That means you can now tell ShoosOn something much closer to what runners actually care about, such as:
- Run a faster 5K by race day
- Improve your 10K pace over the next 12 weeks
- Build toward a half marathon at a realistic goal pace
- Train for a marathon with a clear performance target
Instead of following a premade running plan, you set the outcome and ShoosOn adapts the training around it.
From first finish to faster finish
ShoosOn already supports runners who are building up to complete a distance for the first time:
- Couch to 5K
- Bridge to 10K
- 10K to half marathon
- First marathon
- First ultra marathon
Those plans are still there. What is new is the next layer.
Once you can cover the distance, ShoosOn can now help you train for a better result on that distance, with a timeline and a pace target that match your goal.
If you are earlier in that journey, you can also read about ShoosOn’s coaching plans for the full path from Couch to 5K through to ultra training.
This feature came directly from beta feedback. Runners told us they wanted more than a broad fitness direction. They wanted a running coach app that could understand a specific race goal and help them work toward it without making the plan feel rigid or overwhelming.
How the new target feature works
- Choose the adaptive coach.
- Set your target distance.
- Add your target date.
- Add your goal pace if you already have one in mind.
- ShoosOn checks the goal against your recent running history.
- The coach then builds a personalised training plan designed to move you toward that target.
The important part is that the goal is not treated as a wish list item. ShoosOn uses your current training data to keep the target grounded in reality, then keeps adapting the plan as your training evolves.
Why this matters for runners
Many running apps are strong in one of two areas. They either help you log runs, or they give you a fixed training plan.
ShoosOn is aiming for something better: a running coach that helps you train toward a specific result while still adapting to real life.
That matters because progress is rarely linear. Some weeks you feel strong. Some weeks work, travel, weather, or fatigue get in the way. A useful coaching app should not ignore that. It should respond to it.
By combining target date, target distance, and target pace inside the adaptive coach, ShoosOn gets much closer to how runners actually think about progress. Not just “I want to run more,” but “I want to run this distance, at this pace, by this date, and I want a plan that can actually flex with me.”
Built with beta runners
This update is another example of how ShoosOn is being shaped during beta. We ship quickly, listen closely, and use real runner feedback to decide what gets built next.
If you have ever wanted a 5K training app, a marathon training app, or a running coach app that feels more personal than a static spreadsheet, this is the direction we are building toward.
